**Contacts** is your agency's list of people: customers, carriers, drivers and prospects in one place. Lists are tags, so one contact can be on more than one.

An admin can see every contact and filter by owner. A broker sees the contacts they own and those at their assigned customers. The **Contacts** item shows in the left menu under **CRM** only when an admin has ticked **Contacts** for that person under **Feature access**. See [Invite your team](https://help.smartloads.io/invite-your-team).

## Add a contact

1. In the left menu, under **CRM**, click **Contacts**.
2. Click **Add Contact**.
3. Fill in **Full name**. **Company (optional)**, **Title**, **Email** and **Phone** are extra.
4. Click **Save**.

Type in the search box at the top to find a contact.

## Lists and tags

The tabs across the top are lists: **All**, **Customers**, **Carriers**, **Drivers**, **Prospects** and **Legacy**, plus any you add. Click a tab to show only those contacts.

To add a list of your own:

1. Click **New list**.
2. Type a **List name**, such as `VIP`.
3. Click **Add list**. It shows up as a tab and as a tag you can apply to any contact.

To tag a contact:

1. Click the contact's row. A panel opens.
2. Under **Tags**, type in **Add a tag…** and press Enter, or click a list button such as **+ VIP**.
3. Click **Save changes**.

To remove a tag, click the small x on it, then **Save changes**.

## Notes, archive and restore

- Under **Notes**, type a note, then click **Save changes**.
- Click **Archive** to hide a contact. Nothing is deleted. Archived contacts stay out of the lists.
- To see them again, click **Show archived** at the right of the tabs, open the contact and click **Unarchive**.

## Emailing a list

Customers are never included in a bulk email, and the **Customers** and **Legacy** tabs have no **Email List** button. On other tabs, **Email List** shows the number of contacts who will get it. Contacts with no email address or who unsubscribed are skipped.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I delete a contact?
