# Fill Aljex with the SmartLoads Chrome extension

> Download the extension from Settings → Connectors → Aljex and load it in Chrome. In SmartLoads, click Copy for Aljex. In Aljex, open Add Shipment, click the extension, then Fill from SmartLoads copy. Check every box and click Save yourself. SmartLoads never clicks Save in Aljex.

The extension fills Aljex's form from SmartLoads' copy of a load. You check the form and click Save. It never saves by itself.

It works in Google Chrome on a computer.

## Install it (once on each computer)

1. In SmartLoads, under **Settings**, click **Connectors**, then open the **Aljex** card. If you don't see **Connectors**, ask your admin.
2. Click **Download extension**, then unzip the file. On a Mac, double-click it. On Windows, right-click it and choose **Extract All**.
3. Move the unzipped folder somewhere you'll keep it, like Documents. Chrome runs it from there, so don't delete it.
4. In Chrome's address bar, type `chrome://extensions` and press Enter.
5. Turn on **Developer mode**, the switch at the top right.
6. Click **Load unpacked** and choose the unzipped folder. If Chrome says the manifest is missing, choose the folder of the same name inside it. Windows' **Extract All** puts one inside the other.
7. Pin the extension to Chrome's toolbar, then reload Aljex.

The extension isn't in the Chrome Web Store yet.

## Fill a new shipment

1. In SmartLoads, click **Copy for Aljex**. You'll find it on shipper paperwork in the **Delivery** tab, on a load's **Shipper paperwork**, and in the Outlook panel.
2. In Aljex, go to **Shipments**, then **Add Shipment**.
3. Click the extension, then **Fill from SmartLoads copy**.
4. Check every box. Fix anything that's missing or wrong.
5. Click **Save** in Aljex.

## Add the carrier

When SmartLoads' copy has the carrier, click the extension on the saved shipment and **Fill from SmartLoads copy** again. It fills the carrier, MC and carrier pay. If the copy doesn't know the carrier yet, the extension says so. Check the boxes and click **Save**.

When the shipment's reference number matches the load, the extension can also send the Aljex Pro # back to SmartLoads.

## What it never does

- It never clicks Save, and it never answers Aljex's OK or Cancel questions. You do both.
- It doesn't fill the driver, truck, trailer, seal or SCAC boxes.
- On per-ton loads, the copy leaves the rates out. Type them in Aljex.

Aljex screens can differ from office to office. If a box doesn't fill, type it in before you click Save.

### Why does Copy for Aljex on a rate con give me plain text?

On a carrier rate con, **Copy for Aljex** copies the details as text for you to type in by hand.

### Does SmartLoads connect to Aljex?

No. Nothing in SmartLoads signs in to Aljex. The extension fills the form in your own browser, and you click Save.
