Create your phone agent and send it your missed calls

Updated · 3 min read

In short

An admin clicks AI Agent under Settings and follows five steps: face and name, voice, language, phone number, then meet and create the agent. Then each person forwards their cell's missed calls to the agent's number with their carrier's code.

Your super intelligence (SI) phone agent answers the calls you miss, so a carrier doesn't hit your voicemail. The agent never books or covers a load. A person does that in SmartLoads.

An admin creates the agent. Then anyone on the team can send their cell's missed calls to it.

Create your agent

In the left menu, under Settings, click AI Agent. Only admins see it. The page walks you through five steps, and Next moves you to the next one.

  1. Face and name: pick a face and type a first name. The face is how your agent shows up for your team in SmartLoads.
  2. Voice: pick how your agent sounds. When a voice has a play button, press it to hear a sample.
  3. Language: pick English, Spanish or English and Spanish. With both, your agent answers in English and switches to Spanish when the caller does.
  4. Phone number: you see the number SmartLoads set up for your agency. If there isn't one yet, click Ask SmartLoads for a number and tell us the area code you want. You can also type a Transfer calls to number for callers who ask for a person, and turn on Post this number on DAT and Truckstop. That switch is off until you turn it on.
  5. Meet your agent: check the greeting and the details, then click the Create button (it shows your agent's name, like Create Sam). Once your agent is live, call its number from your phone to hear it answer.

Send your missed calls to your agent

Forward only the calls you miss. Your cell still rings first, and a call goes to your agent only when you don't pick up or you're already on a call.

On the AI Agent page, pick your carrier to see your codes with your agent's number filled in. Type the code in your phone's keypad and press call. An iPhone won't dial these codes from a link, so copy the code and paste it into the keypad.

CarrierTurn it onTurn it off
Verizon*71 + number*73
Xfinity Mobile*71 + number*73
AT&T**61*1 + number + #, then **67*1 + number + ###61#, then ##67#
T-Mobile**61*1 + number + #, then **67*1 + number + ###61#, then ##67#

On Verizon and Xfinity Mobile, *71 covers both calls you don't answer and calls while you're busy. On AT&T and T-Mobile, **61* covers calls you don't answer and **67* covers calls while you're busy, so dial both.

For example, if your agent's number is (312) 555-0142:

  • On Verizon or Xfinity Mobile, dial *713125550142.
  • On AT&T or T-Mobile, dial **61*13125550142#, then **67*13125550142#. The 1 before the area code is the US country code; T-Mobile needs it, and AT&T accepts it.

Tips

  • Don't use Call Forwarding in your iPhone's settings. It sends every call to the agent, not just the ones you miss.
  • On an iPhone, turn off Live Voicemail (Settings, then Apps, then Phone). Otherwise it answers before your agent can.
  • Test it: call your cell from another phone and let it ring. Your agent should answer.

Frequently asked questions

Does my agent book loads?

No. Your agent never books or covers a load. A person does it in SmartLoads. See Claim, book and cover a load.

Will my cell still ring?

Yes. The codes forward a call only when you don't answer it or you're already on another call.

How do I stop forwarding?

Dial your carrier's turn-off code: *73 on Verizon and Xfinity Mobile, or ##61# and ##67# on AT&T and T-Mobile.

Who can create the agent?

Admins. AI Agent is under Settings in the left menu, next to Agency Profile and Team Members.

My carrier isn't listed. What do I do?

Call your carrier and ask for conditional call forwarding, or forwarding when you don't answer, to your agent's number.
